SA Recordings presents the soundtrack to Clayton Vomero’s ‘3OHA’ (or ‘Zona’ in English), featuring original music by Alex Epton and Lucinda Chua. The film was shot on location in Russia and Ukraine, revealing the outsider lives of young people in Kiev, Moscow, Vladimir and St. Petersburg. Part docufilm, part archival history lesson and part impressionistic emotional evocation, ‘3OHA’ explores elements of 20th century soviet culture and history, now diffracted through the cracked lens of western capitalist consumerism. A classically trained jazz musician with multiple sought-after skills, Alex Epton has either performed or recorded with, produced or remixed Thom Yorke, Björk, David Byrne, Arca, Oneohtrix Point Never, FKA Twigs, Onyx Collective, Wiki, LCD Soundsystem, Kele, Vampire Weekend, Charlotte Gainsbourg, TV On The Radio, Kali Uchis and Kylie Minogue. Tipped as ‘One To Watch’ by NTS radio, Lucinda Chua is an accomplished singer, cellist and songwriter whose live performances include FKA Twigs’ ‘Magdalene’ world tour and GAIKA’s ‘AKIRA’ remix event. These follow collaborations with Ben Vince, Helm, K Á R Y Y N, Westerman and Nabihah Iqbal. Recorded in close collaboration with Vomero, the hauntological score complements the film’s montage of recollection, aspiration, assimilation, romance, ennui and resignation, which although factual, has a deeply impressionistic and uncanny feel. Across thirteen tracks Epton explores phosphorescent audio ether and lazer-guided futurism that is rich with pathos and humanity, yet deeply otherworldly – augmented at points by Chua’s plaintive strings, synths and vocals. Limited edition gatefold LP Pressed on black heavyweight vinyl

By 1970, the hippie dream of the 60s was dead -- the soundtrack to the revolution had become a multimillion-dollar industry. But four years later, emerging from the rubble of rock, was a music whose hard edge matched the lifestyle of its home turf -- New York's East Village. Punk's initiators -- Richard Hell, Tom Verlaine, and Patti Smith -- had one foot in 19'th'-century French symbolist poetry and the other in the raw sound of predecessors like the Velvet Underground. Now, in New York Rocker, Gary Valentine offers an inside account of this little-documented era. He talks about the luminaries -- like Debbie Harry, Lou Reed, Iggy Pop, David Bowie, Devo, and the New York Dolls -- and the gigs at CBGBs hitting the news as Warhol and his glittering crew descended. What began as a unique blend of fin-de-siecle ennui and edgy rock, exploded worldwide into an anarchic frenzy of safety pins and gutter decadence, then plunged into excess and eventual ruin -- with its survivors making a leap into the mainstream.

'If you have any interest in the wild array of people who defined the West Coast beat/bohemian world, and the various ways it overlapped other worlds, including Hollywood and rock ‘n’ roll, then you must read TOSH: Growing Up in Wallace Berman’s World by Tosh Berman--John Yau, Hyperallergic 'It's about what it's like to grow up in the L.A. art community between the Beat years and the Counterculture years. Of all the books I've read about L.A. since I've gotten here, this was the most informative about the L.A. I would have wanted to know.'--Michael Silverblatt, Host of KCRW's 'Bookworm' 'Tosh's book is fascinating, fleshing out details on how Wallace morphed from West Coast Beat generation raja into hippie headmaster of LA, centered in the Beverly Glen and Topanga Canyon areas, and, for a time, of San Francisco. . . . His book is filled with wild, with-it insights, buttressed by bounteous black and white photos, yet it is based in a rather ordinary, mid-20th century American upbringing, with extraordinary moments.'—Joseph Nechvatal, Hyperallergic 'This book is perfection. I wish it went on forever. Maybe, somehow, it does.TOSH is almost like a giant map of small city . . . Each sentence is a street. Each chapter is an era. Each memory revealing a secret passage from one place to the next . . . TO READ IT is to WALK IT with Tosh Berman.' —Jason Schwartzman, actor 'This double narrative of Tosh Berman and his father, Wallace, will tell you more about the creative process than a hundred how-to books purporting to do the same.'—Jim Krusoe, author of The Sleep Garden 'Reading TOSH is like meeting your idols, one at a time, for a quiet chat. Everyone is disarmed, and it feels like you've been in the same room with them for about ten hours, or so. Dennis Hopper is unconstrained and friendly, Toni Basil is bubbly, and Brian Jones has just stopped by to say hello. Topanga, as a place is remote--filled with pockets of escapism, winding landscapes of tumult and ennui. Tosh's world is both expansive and crystalline, he traces the edges of his world, and Wallace's world. We get to come and go with Tosh as he navigates his place in and around the tangle of the time.'—Soo Kim, artist, Professor at Otis College of Art and Design 'This book is sublime: vertiginous, melancholy, highly amusing!'—Johan Kugelberg, Boo-Hooray 'Through the prism of Tosh Berman, only child, born 1954 to Wallace and Shirley, who personified the wild heart of 20th century West Coast art, we are offered a truly intimate invitation into a magic world of outliers, visionaries and shooting stars. TOSH recounts a life 'lived like a good book on a bookshelf,' a memoir resonant with discovery, passion, music, art, sex, celebrity, ego, desire, and dignity. All told with a son's love for his father, a continuing light into the creative life.'--Thurston Moore, musician & writer 'Tosh Berman is one of the most valuable writers, much less people, the earth has upon it. This book is exquisite. I can't think of another word. What it says, how it says it, what it is.'--Dennis Cooper, author of The Marbled Swarm 'Reading TOSH, I felt like I was lying on a couch, completely relaxed and engrossed, while Tosh Berman sat in a chair beside me and told me his amazing life story. And at the end, I was very moved and wanted to cry. The affect that TOSH--the book and the man--had on me was that feeling I get when exposed to great art: a mix of sadness and wonder, which seem to be the two faces of the human heart. Wonderment at the beauty around us--the world, its people--and the sadness that nothing lasts, that all must perish. But this is our journey on planet earth: to be brave and feel both things at once, and it's great art, like this book, that reminds us to do so.'--Jonathan Ames, author of You Were Never Really Here'It's about what it's like to grow up in the L.A. art community between the Beat years and the Counterculture years. Critic-producer Nat Segaloff was granted access to private papers, production records, never-before-published interviews, and specialized archives in reconstructing the colorful, touching, and sometimes scandalous stories behind the making of the last films of some of Hollywood's top directors. Winningly readable and yet meticulously researched, its substantial entries range from Robert Aldrich and Robert Altman to Peter Yates and Fred Zinnemann, and John Ford and Howard Hawks to Otto Preminger and Richard Brooks. Certain to attract controversy because of whom it ignores as well as whom it includes, Final Cuts presents fifty widely varied chronicles of success and failure, inspiration and ennui, elation and heartache, and every other emotion enjoyed or endured by the greatest filmmakers that Hollywood ever knew. About the Author Nat Segaloff always wanted to write and produce, but it took him several careers before he learned how to get paid for it. He was a journalist for The Boston Herald covering the motion picture business, but has also variously been a studio publicist (Fox, UA, Columbia), college teacher (Boston University, Boston College), on-air TV talent (Group W), entertainment critic (CBS radio) and author (nine books including Hurricane Billy: The Stormy Life and Films of William Friedkin and, as co-author, Love Stories: Hollywood's Most Romantic Movies). He has contributed career monographs on screenwriters Stirling Silliphant, Walon Green, Paul Mazursky and John Milius to the University of California Press's acclaimed Backstory series, and his writing has appeared in such varied periodicals as Film Comment, Written By, International Documentary, Animation Magazine, The Christian Science Monitor, Time Out (US), MacWorld, and American Movie Classics Magazine. He was also senior reviewer for AudiobookCafe.com. His The Everything® Etiquette Book and The Everything Trivia Book and The Everything® Tall Tales, Legends and Outrageous Lies Book are in multiple printings for Adams Media Corp. As a TV writer-producer, Segaloff helped perfect the format and create episodes for A&E's flagship 'Biography' series. His distinctive productions include John Belushi: Funny You Should Ask; Shari Lewis & Lamb Chop; Larry King: Talk of Fame; Darryl F. Zanuck: Twentieth Century-Filmmaker and Stan Lee: The ComiX-MAN! He has written and co-produced the Rock 'n' Roll Moments music documentaries for The Learning Channel/Malcolm Leo Productions, and has written and/or produced programming for New World, Disney, Turner and USA Networks. His extraterrestrial endeavors include the cheeky sequel to the Orson Welles 'Invasion From Mars' radio hoax, When Welles Collide, which featured a 'Star Trek'® cast. It was produced by L.A. Theatre Works and has become a Halloween tradition on National Public Radio. In 1996 he formed the multi-media production company Alien Voices® with actors Leonard Nimoy and actor John de Lancie and produced five best-selling, fully dramatized audio plays for Simon & Schuster: The Time Machine, Journey to the Center of the Earth, The Lost World, The Invisible Man and The First Men in the Moon, all of which feature 'Star Trek'® casts. Additionally, his teleplay for The First Men in the Moon was the first-ever TV/Internet simulcast and was presented live by The Sci-Fi Channel.
